Hi all,
I came across this video segment that the New York times did for International Women's Day. It profiles the "women's work" of carrying things on the head with a group of women in the Congo. It's good to see this issue getting attention, especially with relation to women's rights!
Also take a look at my own attempt at journalism, an interview with a woman from the village Kukiniele after she tested the a'port.

About the Team
- Aquaport
- Oladapo Bakare is pursuing a dual masters' degree in business administration and engineering systems at MIT. Oladapo envisioned the idea for a product to improve water transportation from his experiences in his home country, Nigeria. He is developing the business and marketing models for Aqua Port.
Mary Bergeron is experienced in Industrial Design & research, and has worked on designs for persons with disabilities, eco-friendly design, and design for development. She is leading user and manufacturing research, and design improvements for Aqua Port
Rebecca Smith recently graduated from MIT with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Her background is in design and manufacturing, with a special interest in design for developing countries. Rebecca is currently working on a water purification innovation in Busia, Kenya.
Tiffany Yuh: Tiffany is currently a senior at MIT completing a degree in Biology. Tiffany will be working on improving the design, and will also use her Biology background to work on ways Aqua Port can purify water,(something we wish to integrate into our future design.)
Hi Mary, Bravo on the interesting work you and your team are doing in Ghana. Really enjoyed watching the interview and reading your report/update. I sat next to you on the plane back from Accra to JFK, and was very impressed by you and your experiences in Ghana.
